Registration for the fall season of Girls on the Run starts on Monday. The program is geared toward building confidence, friendships and healthy life skills. The program is in its second season and starts the week of Sept. 21.

The 10-week program for girls in third through fifth grades will culminate with a 5K run on Dec. 6. Several sites will be offered from Bremerton to Poulsbo. Coaches are needed for each site.

Additionally, the program is also doing a spin-off called Girls on Track.

“It’s the same concept as Girls on the Run,” said Rachel Bearbower, Council Director of Girls on the Run. “It’s exciting to be able to have this program. It’s a non-competitive program.”

The program will be geared toward sixth through eighth graders and will have 22-24 lessons, including talks about social media, bullying and other issues facing teens today. The exercise part of the program will also be focused on preparing girls for a 5K run as well.

The cost of both programs is $140 per girl and includes a t-shirt, health snacks after lessons, 5k race registration, and end-of-season medal and more.
