The activities of Fathoms O Fun are back in full swing, and the 54th annual Grand Parade is set to entertain Port Orchard residents again in the coming weeks.
The festival and grand parade returns June 24 at 6 p.m. unrestricted for just the second year in a row following the coronavirus pandemic. Last year’s parade was a welcoming return to normalcy, and Fathoms chair Sharron King hopes to surpass last year’s numbers.
Visitors will have something to do all day long on parade day June 24 as the two-day summer crafts and vendor show begins, promising plenty of crafts, food and fun along the Port Orchard Waterfront. The vendors will run through June 25.
Also happening parade day is the 21st running of the Hot Foot 5K race and one-mile race at South Kitsap Regional Park. The one-mile race starts at 8:40 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9 a.m.
The parade is set to commence at 6 p.m. following a pre-parade show from the Tenino Motorcycle Drill Team. Parade applications available at www.fathomsofun.org
Avis Rill is the parade grand marshal. She took the position to honor her late husband, Bill, of Rill Chapel’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, who died fairly recently.
While the days leading up to the celebrations are few, Fathoms is still seeking volunteers to help run and monitor the parade and other events.
Anyone interested in giving their time to the organization should contact King or other members of Fathoms. Contact information is available via the Fathoms website fathomsofun.org
