CSTOCK sings through the adventures of Mark Twain’s classic while WWCA classically assaults the Bard’s work in Shakespeare (Abridged)
THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER at CSTOCK, through Oct. 12 at the Silverdale Community Center, 9729 Silverdale Way.
Here’s the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn like you’ve never likely seen them before — in song.
CSTOCK, a Kitsap theater renowned for its family-friendly musical productions, kicked off its 2008-09 season last weekend with “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” the Broadway musical with words by Ken Ludwig and music by Don Schlitz, directed here by Gwen Adams.
“It’s classic literature,” Adams noted. “It’s a classic story, it’s a familiar story, but it’s not one of those musicals that’s done some place every year.”
This is Adams’ first time directing at the theater where she began her career in Kitsap. She’s also put in a lot of work both on stage and in the director’s chair at the Jewel Box in Poulsbo.
With an all-ages, mixed cast for “Tom Sawyer,” it’s refreshing to be back, Adams said.
“I really love to see people shine on stage,” she said. “I like giving them an avenue to show their stuff, and especially to see the kids.”
See the kids and cast of CSTOCK in “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” on stage through Oct. 12 with shows at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 6 p.m. Sundays.
CSTOCK ticket prices have gone up this year to $15 for adults, $12 for seniors/students/military and $10 for kids under 11.
