Leslie “Kirk” Lord, 68, of Poulsbo WA, peacefully passed away and went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2023. L.“Kirk” Lord was born to Les and Floy Lord in Merced, CA on March 27, 1955. He was the third son of six children.
Kirk spent his childhood in Merced and moved, in his teen years, to Catheys Valley. He grew up with the Lord family, riding horses, herding cattle, and team roping, which was a part of life on the ranch. He also was a part of 4-H club raising sheep and chickens. While attending Mariposa High School he was President of Future Farmers of America and also played basketball for the Mariposa Grizzles. After graduating from MCHS in 1973 he attended Merced College and played basketball for the Blue Devils.
In 1974 he married Robin Correia and they were married for 49 years. In 1978 Kirk, Robin, and sons, David and Jonathan moved to Poulsbo, Washington. There Kirk enjoyed working for local custom cabinet shops and was given the endearing name of “Mort”. Later on in his career he became a General Contractor. He enjoyed many aspects of being self-employed, which always included a moment to chat and/or a cup of coffee with friends and family. That was his favorite pastime!! During this time, he also enjoyed many years as a North Kitsap Little League board member and coach. He served several years as a NKLL Umpire at local and regional games. He also coached PeeWee basketball and led the team to a championship. Kirk was known for his familiar laughter that brightened the day for all who heard him. This led to another endearing nickname of “Cackle”. Kirk enjoyed camping, fishing, and fun times with his family and friends.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents Les and Floy, and brother Steve. He is survived by his wife Robin, son David, son Jonathan, his grandchildren Bryson S. Lord, Leslie K. Lord, and Bella Y. Crowell who are the pride of his life. He loved to dote on them, give to them, love on them, brag on them, and be their cheerleader! Also, he is survived by his brother Gary (Renee) Lord, sister Karen Dickinson, brother Brian Lord, sister Tracy Lord-Huff (Charlie), and many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
The Celebration of Life will be at Gateway Fellowship, 18901 8th Ave NE Poulsbo, WA 98370 on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Memorial donations can be made in Kirk Lord’s memory to Royal Family Kids: 18901 8th Ave NE Poulsbo, WA 98370.
