A 43-year-old Bremerton woman was in Kitsap County Superior Court Feb. 29 charged with second-degree burglary.
Bail was $50,000. She faces 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
Court papers say Bremerton police on Feb. 28 at 9:51 a.m. in the 700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way responded to a burglary. Someone was seen crawling through a dog door. Police arrived and saw pink shoes there. The homeowner was contacted and said police could enter.
A woman was found in the upstairs rafters, naked and covered with a towel. Police knew the woman from a previous arson that included setting herself on fire. The man came home and did not recognize the suspect.
BREMERTON
Car shot at after date
Bail was set at $250,000 March 4 when a 30-year-old Bremerton man was charged with first-degree assault in Superior Court.
He faces life in prison and $50,000 in fines.
Court papers say Bremerton police on March 4 responded to the 3400 block of Spruce Avenue 26 minutes after midnight when gunshots were fired. About half an hour later, police met the victim downtown as his vehicle had been shot multiple times in the back bumper and trunk.
He said he went on a date that night and when he went to drop off the woman two men in ski masks approached. He punched one as he grabbed for the woman’s door, then he sped off. He thought they were trying to carjack him. The woman said she had dated one of the attackers, and he had stalked her. She feared the man and asked for police protection. The suspect was later arrested.
Woman choked
A 28-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court March 4 charged with second-degree assault strangulation and third-degree malicious mischief, both involving domestic violence.
Bail was $50,000. He faces 11 years in prison and $15,000 in fines.
Court papers show Bremerton police responded to the 4400 block of Bay Vista Boulevard when a man with a gun threatened to kill himself. The man had been using cocaine and drinking for three days.
A woman said she had told the suspect she wanted to leave him. When he threatened himself with the gun she went to stop him and was thrown against the wall. Police were unable to find the suspect. But he later returned and assaulted the woman again and smashed her phone. She also had marks on her neck where he choked her.
Threat to kill postman
A 37-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court Feb. 22 charged with harassment, threat to kill and obstructing an officer. Bail was $50,000. He faces six years in prison and $15,000 in fines.
Court records show Bremerton police responded Feb. 21 at 8:17 p.m. to the 1200 block of Sylvan Way. A man threatened to shoot a U.S. postal service employee in the parking lot, although no gun was seen.
The postman said he was driving a postal van when a man with two pit bulls was in the road in front of him. He stopped his work van to avoid hitting them. The suspect began yelling and threatening the postal worker. When police arrived, the man would not comply with orders. Once the suspect was told a less-lethal weapon would be used on him he finally complied.
PORT ORCHARD
Assault over Xanax scam
A 23-year-old Gig Harbor man was in Superior Court Feb. 28 arrested on a warrant from 2021 when he was 18 on first-degree assault.
Bail was $100,000. He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Court records show Port Orchard police on Dec. 7, 2020, found out the suspect wanted to sell Xanax to someone in Port Orchard but needed $300 more to buy it. The suspect never got back to him, so he thought he was getting scammed. They set up a meeting to get his money. Instead, the suspect, helped by two others, punched the victim, who fell to the ground, where he was then kicked. They stole his shoes. All of that was captured on nearby security cameras, along with recorded on the victim’s phone.
The victim went to a hospital with a lacerated spleen, hearing loss, bruised lungs and face fractures. A doctor told him if he was older he could have died from the injuries.
Canadian arrested
A 57-year-old Canadian woman was in Superior Court Feb. 28 charged with felony harassment and threat to kill.
Bail was $70,000. She faces five years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
Court records show Kitsap sheriff’s deputies responded to Victory Drive SW in Port Orchard at 9:38 p.m. Feb. 27. The caller said the landlord’s girlfriend threatened to kill her. The officer had been to the location earlier and arrested the suspect’s boyfriend, and the girlfriend became agitated. The caller said the suspect threatened to shut off her power.
The caller recalled an incident in which the girlfriend, whose address is in Port Alberni, British Columbia, had hit her boyfriend with a golf club, so she did indeed fear for her life.
Juvenile arrest for arson
A 16-year-old Port Orchard boy was in Superior Court Juvenile Division Feb. 23 charged with arson and residential burglary.
Court records show Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies were handling the case.
Woman attacked over money
A 31-year-old Belfair man was in Superior Court Feb. 22 on $250,000 bail.
He is charged with first-degree burglary and violation of court order, both involving domestic violence. He faces life in prison and more than $50,000 in fines.
Court records show Port Orchard police responded Feb. 20 at 1:17 p.m. to a Kendall Street address. The woman was crying and appeared terrified. She was expecting her boyfriend, but it was her ex-boyfriend instead, with whom she has a protection order.
The suspect asked her for money, and when she said no he lunged at her, pulled her hair and punched her in the head a few times. The suspect faces life in prison because of two previous “most serious offense” convictions.
