2 coaches leaving successful SKHS dance program

There will be big shoes to fill this offseason on the dance floor as South Kitsap High School is losing 4A Coach of the Year Lynelle Vandenbos.

The Wolfpack Dance Team has thrived from the nine years of instruction given by Vandenbos, teams regularly ranking in the top five at the WIAA state championships since 2015. Many of the dancers have gone on to pursue collegiate-level dance.

A SK High statement says, “With a mix of gratitude and nostalgia, we say goodbye to” Vandenbos. Her tenure “has been marked by dedication, passion, and a profound impact on our student-athletes and program.”

Vandenbos graduated from SKHS in 1998 and was a former member of the dance team. She has also judged several competitions since 2012 and was named Judge of the Year in Washington in 2022.

Assistant dance coach Errin Williams is also departing, and the statement says. “A Pacific Northwest native with a wealth of dance experience, including three years as a Seattle Seahawks dancer, Errin’s dedication and expertise have left an indelible mark.”
