A 73-year-old Lakewood man was in Kitsap County Superior Court June 3 charged with three child sex crimes.
He was charged with second-degree attempted rape of a child, sex communication with a minor and communication with a minor for immoral purposes. Bail was $150,000. He faces life in prison plus six years and $65,000 in fines.
Court papers say Bremerton police made the arrest May 31 at 11 a.m. on Kitsap Way. But the original call came Sept. 14, 2023. A 15-year-old girl created a Craigslist ad looking for a babysitting job. The suspect asked about her babysitting his nephew, but then he offered to pay her for sex.
Police took over in later exchanges, and she (police) declined to send him explicit photos. She said she would have sex with him for $150, but he tried to reduce that to $80 for regular meetings. He asked if she had any younger friends, and she asked what if I report you to police. He said they don’t care.
Police later posted their own Craigslist ad about a young girl wanting to make money to help her mom fix her car. The same suspect responded. The ad said she was 12, and he pressured her for sex. He sent her (police) explicit photos. He also sent explicit texts about sex acts. He also said she could earn over $100,000 a year in sex trafficking. He suggested involving her mom in sex trafficking as well. He also mentioned a three-way with another young girl as a possibility.
He planned to make her “the youngest porn star.” He asked her to provide explicit photos of her friends posing naked and having sex.
Researching the suspect’s background in the crime database, police found that in 2018, he offered an undercover detective reduced rent in exchange for sex, along with other cases.
In making the arrest, the suspect thought he was meeting a 12-year-old girl for sex acts. He planned to pay $120, provide her with a Tracfone and give her a stuffed animal.

Chase reaches 100 mph
A 34-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court June 3 charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and hit and run. Bail was $70,000.
He faces 11 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
Court records say Port Orchard police responded May 31 at 8:11 p.m. to Becky Avenue and Dallas Street in Port Orchard. A woman had taken a video of a man with whom she has a protection order against. The man said he was not happy about it. A little later the suspect chased the woman and her son in a car. The son slowed to call for help from some bystanders when the suspect rear-ended the vehicle, causing the son to hit his face on the steering wheel.
The son took off but the suspect again rammed the vehicle. The son sped off again and reached speeds of 100 miles per hour on Sidney Road because he was afraid the suspect would kill him and his mom.
Stolen vehicle
A 33-year-old Port Orchard man was in Superior Court June 4 arrested on a warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Bail was $150,000. He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Court records say Kitsap officers June 19, 2023 at 12:54 p.m. responded to the 5400 block of Alameda Street SW in Port Orchard. The reporting party said his vehicle had been stolen. He said the vehicle was worth about $5,000 and had about $1,000 in tools in the back.
Three days later the vehicle was seen in a store parking lot, fresh white spray paint covering the entire front end. The man inside said the car was his friend and he had no idea it was stolen. During a search drug paraphernalia was found, along with filed-down car keys.
