A Bremerton woman was transported to Tacoma General Hospital in serious condition after crashing and rolling her car on Highway 3 just northeast of Gorst Aug. 10.
A State Patrol news release says the 36-year-old woman was traveling southbound near mile marker 35 when her vehicle hit the center barrier. The vehicle then crossed both southbound lanes to the right and hit an embankment before rolling and hitting a power pole. The vehicle was on its top when first responders arrived, and the driver had been ejected.
WSP trooper Katherine Weatherwax called it a “serious injury collision” in her initial report just after 9:40 a.m. Police later added she had not worn a seatbelt.
Drivers on the highway and using alternative routes experienced significant delays, especially those traveling southbound. An update from Weatherwax at 12:28 p.m. said the road had fully reopened, but further delays were expected to allow for crews to replace the power pole.
