North Kitsap tops Kingston, 4-3
The North Kitsap High baseball team edged out Kingston High in eight innings Friday, 4-3. Kingston took the game’s first lead in the bottom of the third inning on a two-run home run by Danny Orr. The Vikings grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning after a homer from catcher Nick Benish. Kingston tied things up in the bottom of the seventh when Rico LeMay drove a run across the plate. Benish then came up in the top of the eighth and hit a double to drive in what would be the winning run. Austin Abrahamson recorded the win for the Vikings, while Josh Herrera got the loss.
The Vikings return to the diamond April 6, when they will host Sequim High. Kingston is scheduled to host Klahowya today at 4 p.m.
FASTPITCH
Kingston tops North, 16-8
The Kingston High fastpitch team defeated North Kitsap High Friday, 16-8. Katie Lomas got the win for the Buccaneers, and Hailey Carstensen recorded the loss for the Vikings. North Kitsap was led on offense by Lindsey Foster, who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Kingston’s Alexa Ekonomakis was 3-for-3 with a triple, and Lomas went 3-for-5 with a triple and a double.
Both teams are off for spring break. The Vikings host Sequim on April 6, while the Bucs play at Olympic High the same day. Both games begin at 4 p.m.

North Kitsap’s Reedy, Weinmann top Kent-Meridian Invite
North Kitsap High School’s Tabor Reedy placed first in the boys 3,200-meter run Saturday at the Kent-Meridian Invitational in Kent, with a time of 9 minutes, 40.40 seconds. North’s Annelise Weinmann took first in the girls 1,600 meters, with a time of 5:19.43. Other top finishers for North included Alex Flores, who placed third in the boys 200 meters and Alexandra Lanzafame, who was fifth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump. North Kitsap’s girls 4×100-meter relay team placed third, as did the girls 4×800-meter team.
Kingston’s Schippers takes first in 1,600 meters
Kingston High School’s Nicholas Schippers placed first in the 1,600-meter run Saturday at the Kent-Meridian Invitational, with a time of 4:25.67. The Kingston boys track team placed 17th out of 21 teams. The Kingston girls team placed 15 overall, out of 19 teams. Top finishers for the girls were Jaime Schultz, who placed fourth in the triple jump and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles; Melia Beckwith, who was fifth in the 400-meters; and Dana VanWyck, who was sixth in the pole vault.
