Holiday drives for student homeless, Toys for Tots

The 3rd Annual Photo With The Grinch Toy Drive will take place from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 6 at Dream Kitsap, 830 Pacific Ave. in Bremerton.

The event collects donations for Kitsap Toys for Tots so every child in the county can have a special Christmas morning. Monetary donations are used to buy toys for kids in the community.

Along with photos with the Grinch for $15 or a toy, there will be letters to Santa, treats and a food truck.

The event started in 2022 by hairstylists Alyssa Cienega and Ashley Johnston, photographer Molly Doughty and Central Kitsap firefighter Josh Johnston. They hope to get 500 toys after getting more than 300 in previous years.

Also, the Central Kitsap School District is having a Holiday Drive for students who are homeless from now until Dec. 9.

That amounts to about 400 students, and the drive aims to ease the burden on families this holiday season.

By providing gifts for children, the effort hopes to allow families to focus on other important aspects of their lives.

Participants can sponsor a family, shop on Amazon for wishlist items or shop locally and drop off items at the district office, 1400 NE McWilliams St., Bremerton. Gift cards also are accepted. For details contact the district.
