A 34-year-old Port Orchard man was in Kitsap County Superior Court Nov. 7 charged with third-degree rape lack of consent domestic violence.
He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Court records show a victim on Beauty Lake Road reported recurring incidents of rape and abuse over 2 1/2 years. An interview took place at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 4 at the sheriff’s south office. She said there were up to 40 occasions when they had non-consensual sex. They met when she was 19, they moved in together, but then verbal abuse began. On Sept. 24 she was advised not to have sex due to a medical procedure. That’s when the rapes began.
Because of the size difference and physical disabilities she was unable to stop him. She had videos of arguments and text messages as evidence. The last rape was Oct. 19. She said she could not scream because her son was in the other room. The suspect moved her to the floor, and she sustained bruises and injuries. She went to the hospital and said she was moving to a new residence. A sexual assault protection order was granted against the suspect.
Bail $750,000 each
A 24-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court Nov. 12 charged with two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
He faces 20 years in prison and $40,000 in fines.
Court records show Kitsap deputies responded Nov. 10 at 12:33 a.m. to the 3800 block of Pineneedle Drive NE in Bremerton. Facts were difficult to decipher bceause of injuries, intoxication and Spanish-only speakers. The department’s Language Line was used to help. The victim said a man drove by his driveway three times so he went to see what was going on. He said he was attacked by three people. He was hit in the head with a glass bottle of Modelo and in the back with a wooden club.
Two suspects left, but the other was arrested. Two witnesses said they were asleep, but woke to see the assault. They all know each other, but no one knows what the attack was about.
A woman then appeared from the house and guided deputies upstairs. A man was on the floor face down covered in blood. He had been stabbed with a knife. Blood started squirting out when a green cloth was removed so medics did a tourniquet and that victim passed out. He was intubated and was operated on at St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale.
Also charged with the same crimes in the case were 20- and 24-year old Bremerton men. Bail was set at $750,000 each.
The escape vehicle was found in a parking lot in the 100 block of Sheridan Road in Bremerton. It had a shattered window, blood spatter on the outside of the vehicle and a bat with blood on the handle inside it. Deputies went to where the two had moved to in the 2500 block of Perry Avenue NE. One tried to flee but they both were caught. They admitted being involved but said it was self defense.
Fishy case
Even though tribal fisherman gave her two fish the previous day in good faith, a 62-year-old Bremerton woman was in Superior Court Nov. 12 charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
She faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. Bail was posted at $250,000.
Court papers say Kitsap deputies responded at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 9 to the 4400 block of Dyes Inlet Road NW in Bremerton. The woman homeowner said the tribal fishermen were trying to mess with her floating dock. She told them to get off her property, but they were on Suquamish land.
The next day words again were exchanged and at one point the suspect was in her house with a shotgun pointed at them. A video was shown as evidence. Her husband went down to the beach to try to smooth things over. But the tribal members said it was beyond that point.
Cat attack
A 38-year-old Deer Park, TX man was in Superior Court Nov. 12 charged with first-degree burglary with a deadly weapon after returning a cat to its owners.
He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Court papers show Port Orchard police responded to Sydney Avenue at 3:42 p.m. Nov. 9. The suspect broke into the apartment and a fight broke out. The reporting party said he was in the bedroom when he heard a crash and yelling. He came into the living room with a baseball bat, and saw the suspect hitting his wife.
He put the suspect in a headlock, and they struggled. The suspect went for his handgun and said he’d shoot the husband. The wife grabbed the gun away but the suspect then pinned her to the wall. The suspect ended up being locked on the balcony when police arrived. The woman said the suspect was dropping off their cat when he attacked her.
