Teen driver hits teen bicyclist

A 16-year-old Bremerton girl, driving a 2005 Volvo, was traveling westbound on Riddell Road at about 4 p.m. June 16 when she went to turn onto northbound State Route 303 and struck a 17-year-old Bremerton girl on her bicycle as she was crossing.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet. She was transported to Harrison Medical Center with a sore neck, back and arm. The driver was charged with failure to yield right of way. Her vehicle sustained damage to the right front end.

Flying boots

A 27-year-old woman called 911 to her Griffin Glen Apartment complex in East Bremerton at about 4 a.m. June 3, saying her boyfriend assaulted her and broke a window.

Her 30-year-old boyfriend fled in his vehicle as soon as she called 911. The woman told deputies they always bicker, but this time they were arguing about her testing positive for an STD and she suspected him of cheating on her. She told him she was ending their relationship when he began calling her names and chasing her around the room. He threw a large box at her with some of his belongings, striking her in the face and arm. When a deputy arrived, the window was broken and a boot was lying in the planter box outside. Soon after her boyfriend fled the apartment, his vehicle was spotted by Bremerton Police and a pursuit ensued. Officers deployed a spike strip, slowing his vehicle. A sheriff’s deputy performed the PIT maneuver, successfully stopping the man’s car.

He was arrested and booked into jail for fourth-degree assault-domestic violence, eluding a pursuing police vehicle and driving with a suspended license. He was later released.
