Bramwell to speak at Semancik golf tourney

Dr. Steve Bramwell is slated to speak at the seventh annual Semancik Memorial/Bremerton Alumni Golf Tournament, Saturday, Sept. 12 at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Bremerton.

The former University of Washington All-American will discuss his career and relationship with the legendary coach Chuck Semancik of Bremerton High School and the Bremerton’s West High, where Bramwell received all-state honors as a running back. Bramwell will speak during the 5th Quarter Awards Banquet/Silent Auction and Raffle, beginning between 12:30 and 1 p.m.

The general public is invited to play in the tournament and/or attend the luncheon. The tournament is filling up fast and the only way to reserve a spot is to pay in advance. Action begins at 8 a.m. Those who wish to attend only the luncheon must make reservations by Sept. 1. The fee is $10. All proceeds go toward post-secondary scholarships for Bremerton High School students who have overcome life-altering circumstances.

Stingers baseball

The Bremerton Stingers are looking for players and families who are dedicated to high-caliber baseball with a strong emphasis on team ball. The Stingers are an elite, year-round baseball club based in Bremerton with players from Kitsap, Mason, Clallam and Pierce counties. For the 2010 season, the club will be represented by four teams: 11U, 12U, 14U and 16U. UW soccer clinic

The University of Washington’s women’s soccer team will be at the Kitsap Family YMCA in Bremerton from 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Youth soccer players are encouraged to attend the clinic, which will include dribbling, shooting and passing drills. The event is free to members and $5 for non-members.
