BREMERTON — Two people were injured in a fire that destroyed a mobile home at the Rocky Point Mobile Home Park Thursday morning.
A column of black smoke rose into the air as firefighters sped toward the blaze. Bremerton Fire Department and South Kitsap Fire Department responded to the fire, which began around 10 a.m.
A long yellow fire hose at about 100 yards long snaked its way through the mobile home park. It connected to a fire hydrant outside the park along Rocky Point Road NW.
A woman and child were transported to Harrison Medical Center for treatment.
The fire was contained to the property and did not spread to nearby trees or other structures.
Donations are being sought to help the family recover.
“I am collecting home goods toiletries, clothes and bedding for my family that lost their trailer to a fire today,” said Monica Lorance on the Bremerton Patriot’s Facebook page.
“We are all very grateful everyone is OK, but they have only the clothes on their backs. They need everything. If you have anything you can donate please Facebook messenger me so we can help them.”
Lorance said the items would help a 2-year-old boy, 8-year-old girl, a 14-year-old girl and two adults.
Firefighters work at the scene.
