A deputy responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Ridgeview Drive NE in East Bremerton around 10 p.m. Aug. 4. A man called and said his neighbor was “doing burnouts” in the road and threatening him and his mother.

The deputy spoke with the 70-year-old homeowner who said she was planning to have some trees cut down on her property. Her son, the 42-year-old man who called 911, told the 39-year-old male suspect about it the day before and he got upset. That same night, the woman said the angry man turned on his flood lights, pointing them at her house. The deputy left the scene, but a few hours later, the 42-year-old man again called 911 saying the suspect had a gun and he himself had a knife. The 39-year-old man was arrested and booked into jail on charges of harassment and criminal trespass. He was booked and released on personal recognizance.

Teen with attitude

A sheriff’s deputy spotted a speeding vehicle on Silverdale Way at about 4 a.m. Aug. 3. The vehicle was traveling 46 mph in a 30 mph zone. The deputy stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Silverdale Way and Kitsap Mall Boulevard. The male driver did not have ID on him.

The teenager gave the deputy his name and date of birth. He said he was born in 1993, making him 15 years old. When the deputy told him he was too young to have a driver’s license, the teenager said his mother is handicapped and the state issued him a license so he could drive her around. The deputy then called the teen’s mother who gave him her son’s correct name and date of birth. The teenager turned out to be 13 years old. His mom said she didn’t know her son had taken the car and her spare key had been missing for quite some time.

His father arrived on scene and took custody of the teen. No arrest was made and a report was forwarded to the juvenile division of the prosecutor’s office for review/filing of charges.
