Alzheimer’s caregiver support group:
Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support groups provide a consistent and caring place for people to learn, share and gain emotional support from others who are also on a unique journey of providing care to a person with dementia. A free information and support group for care partners, family members and friends of individuals with dementia will be held 7 to 8:30 p.m., the third Wednesday of each month at the Harrison Medical Center Annex, 750 Lebo Blvd., Bremerton. Women’s opportunity awards:
Women residents of the Bremerton/Central Kitsap area who serve as the primary wage earners for their families and seek financial assistance to go back to school can now obtain applications for the Women’s Opportunity Awards, Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton’s major service project. Tracyton Christmas tree lighting:
Tracyton will celebrate its annual Christmas tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5.
The tree is located in front of the Tracyton Methodist Church, 5153 Naomi Street, between Tracy and Nichols Ave. A Victorian brass ensemble will start the festivities. The tree will be lit at 6 p.m. followed by the arrival of Santa on a fire truck. A carol sing-along will conclude the evening. Apple cider and cookies will be served.
Hearing loss meeting:
The Hearing Loss Association of Kitsap County invites the public to an emergency preparedness presentation from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 20. It will take place in the Iris Room at Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale at 1800 Myhre Road.
Future meetings will include telephones and cell phones, understanding your audiogram, dementia vs. hearing loss, tinnitus and what makes a place hearing-friendly.

Soroptimist art contest:
Bremerton Soroptimist will collect submissions for its Live Your Dream Art Contest. The contest encourages students draw a fictional woman from literature that inspires them.
The contest is open to both boys and girls, ages 4-18. If their artwork is chosen as a finalist, it will be viewed on the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Campaign website at LiveYourDreamCampaign.org. Winners will also receive $100, as will their schools. Soroptimist is holding the contest in honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month in March.

Kitsap Democratic Women:
The November meeting of the Kitsap Democratic Women will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at the Bremer Student Center dining room of Olympic College, 1600 Chester Avenue, Bremerton. Upper Cervical Health Centers of America is hosting its annual Angel Tree event. Stop by the office and select an ornament off the Angel Tree with a gift idea for each child. Return your wrapped gift to Upper Cervical Health Centers of America by Dec. 8. The Angel Tree party will be held Dec. 10. Each child will be presented with gifts. Eddie Bauer coat drive:
Eddie Bauer stores are offering a 20 percent discount on purchases from customers who donate a coat between Nov. 19 and 21.
Coats donated at the Silverdale Eddie Bauer Outlet, located at 9990 Mickelberry Road, will be given to St. Vincent de Paul in Bremerton.
The coat drive is part of the One Warm Coat campaign.
Disabled American Veterans to host fundraiser with live jazz
The Disabled American Veterans will host its annual Forget-Me-Not fundraiser from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Dec. 11.
The event will feature swing and jazz music performed live by The Stingers. Tickets are $15 for Disabled American Veterans members and $20 for non-members. Tickets can be reserved at dvwa05@qwestoffice.net or (360) 373-2397.
The benefit will take place at the DAV Hall, locacted at 2315 Burwell St. in Bremerton.
AD/HD support
“The Potential Risks of Not Treating ADHD” will be presented by Harlan Gephart at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 to Kitsap CHADD, the local ADHD support group.
Dr. Gephart is a nationally recognized expert on ADHD, with over 30 years of experience working with kids and teens with ADHD.
Discussion will follow and all are welcome.
