A gathering of four juveniles and an 18-year-old man in Bremerton Saturday culminated in two of the juveniles jumping off a second-floor balcony to escape the rantings of another juvenile trying to debate about religion.

Police were called to an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Ivy Road at 9:21 p.m., responding to reports from neighbors of yelling, a possible assault and teens jumping off a balcony, according to police reports.

A juvenile female in the parking lot admitted that she and four others were smoking marijuana in an apartment and said she and one male friend were the ones who jumped off the second floor deck. The girl told police they jumped off the balcony to get away from an aggressive friend who had a “weird” reaction to the marijuana and was “freaking out.”

When officers reached the apartment, an 18-year-old man said he smoked marijuana with the four juveniles. When police tried to interrogate the reportedly hostile boy, he refused to sit still and attempted to jump down a staircase, saying, “I am going to be born again.” He told police he was saying bad things about the pope and asked whether he was going to heaven or hell.

Police made no arrests and transported the boy to Harrison Medical Center.
