Chance of midweek snow in North Kitsap; severe weather shelter opens

The National Weather Service is predicting a 50 percent chance of snow Nov. 13 in North Kitsap.

POULSBO — The National Weather Service is predicting a 50 percent chance of snow Nov. 13 in North Kitsap.

Temperatures are expected to reach a low of 31 degrees the evening of Nov. 12. As a result, Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management has activated the county’s Severe Weather Shelter Plan.

The shelter — at Bremerton Food Line, 1600 12th St., Bremerton — will open at 6 p.m. Nov. 11 and 12. Hours of operation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Guests will not be able to check into the shelter after 10 p.m.

The shelter will serve all residents of our area who require safe overnight refuge where none is available. Further activations will be weather dependent.  For more information about the process, call 211 or call Kitsap Community Resources at 360-478-2301.

There is a chance of snow between 4-10 a.m. on Nov. 13, according to the National Weather Service. There could be a mix of rain and snow as the day progresses.

After 10 a.m. on Nov. 13, the National Weather Service is predicting rain with a high of 42. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. Rain is expected to continue through Nov. 16.
