An intoxicated man outside of Bremerton High School was arrested for harassment June 16 after yelling obscenities at a high school student and threatening the girl’s father.

Multiple callers reported that there was a belligerent man walking by the high school and threatening people. When police arrived in the area, the 47-year-old intoxicated man was found two blocks away from the school on 13th Street. He was holding a half-consumed bottle of wine, slurring his speech and sweating profusely, according to the police report.

When asked about reports of threatening passer-bys, the man denied bothering others and said he was trying to keep to himself as he walked back to his apartment on 11th Street.

A 26-year-old man told police that the 47-year-old yelled obscenities at his daughter as she exited the high school after a recital. When the 26-year-old asked the 47-year-old if he needed any help, the 47-year-old raised his fists and threatened to fight.

While talking to police, the 47-year-old kept yelling and had to be asked to be quiet multiple times. He was arrested for harassment and booked into Kitsap County jail. The jail personnel advised police that the man’s partially consumed bottle of wine and empty bottle of gin could not be retained. The police officer poured out the wine and threw the bottles away.
