The Port Orchard Police Department began, last week, placing its traffic accident reports online.
“I think it’s going to slim-line things for everyone involved,” said Cyndi Circelli, a records and evidence specialist with Port Orchard’s police department.
Citizens and insurance providers can now access the reports at any time of day or night at www.docview.us.com.
They’ll only be able to view their own case.
“They’re going to be searching by the case number that the officer gives them at the time of the event,” said Circelli. “It’s pretty locked down.”
Viewing an accident report through Docview costs $6 for citizens and $11 for insurance companies, she said, and the reports are also available at the police service desk for a $5 report fee.
The system tends to work well for insurance companies, said Circelli, because it’s convenient for them to look at the reports online and then send out one check to the police station at the end of the month.
The new system also benefits the finance department.
“The finance department will get one check from Doc View, rather than many from insurance companies, for the page views,” said Circelli.
“The Port Orchard Police Department responds to over 400 collisions per year,” according to a press release from the Port Orchard Police Department. “Normally a collision report will contain two drivers.”
