A collision involving two vehicles closed down Sedgwick Road at the Banner Road intersection at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to South Kitsap Fire and Rescue (SKFR) Battalion Chief Guy Dalrymple, only minor injuries were sustained in what could have been a serious incident.

Sedgwick and Banner Roads were closed for approximately an hour while rescue crews extricated a mother and daughter from one of the vehicles.

Dalrymple said the collision caused one of the vehicles to flip over onto its roof while the other vehicle ended up in a ditch.

“It looks like the driver of the vehicle on Sedgwick Road attempted to avoid a T-bone impact with the other vehicle that was coming out of Banner,” he said. “We did an extrication of the persons in the vehicle that ended

up in the ditch because of possible spinal injuries, we didn’t want to twist them trying to get them out.

“Most of what we did was precautionary,” Dalrymple said. “Both vehicles had airbags and all drivers were wearing their seat belts. This was a significant accident but the injuries were minor because everyone was wearing safety restraints.”

Dalrymple continued with a reminder to drivers, “Slow down, stay alert and make sure to always wear a seat belt.”
