KINGSTON — Orman (Larry) Geofrey Larrabee died Feb. 7. He was 86.

He was born Aug. 9, 1926 in Yarmouth, Maine to Orman and Annie Larrabee. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He earned a Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts, along with several other ribbons and medals.

He played catcher for a New York Yankees farm team and retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he served in several capacities. He was a Boy Scout leader and served as commander of his American Legion post. He was a member of Redeemer United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, CWO Steven Larrabee, who was killed in action in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, “Miss Fran”; children, Jeff, Mark and Kellie; stepchildren, Debbie, Diana, George, Nancy, Melody, Addis, Renita, Tim, and Susan: and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

No funeral services are planned, with a Navy burial at sea. A celebration/potluck was held Feb. 10 at the Larrabee home in Kingston.
