PORT ORCHARD — In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, the Park Vista Retirement community is staging a day of activities honoring those who fought in the U.S. armed services. Event activities begin at 8 a.m., Aug. 15 at the community, 2944 SE Lund Ave., with a “patriotic pancake breakfast.”

At 10:30 a.m., a veteran’s testimonial and wreath presentation will begin. Following that activity, an All-American barbecue begins at 12 p.m., followed by an afternoon of various activities: a car show, veterans’ wall unveiling, a pie social and 5 p.m. dinner and USO show.

The celebration event is free and open to the public.
