NAVAL UNDERSEA MUSEUM FAMILY DAYS: Every First Saturday of the month families with children pre-school to age 12 are invited to Family Day from October through May. On April 3, the project will be soda bottle submarines. This month we will build a submarine and test it in our tubs. The tour will feature a look at our submarine models and the submarine control room.

LIVING WITH ILLNESS, LOSS, AND DEATH: Explore and transform the difficulties and disappointments that come with disease and loss. NKTA: The North Kitsap Trail Association will host community presentations that promote a series of connected hiking and biking trails in North Kitsap. Presentations (15-30 minutes) will be to the Kingston Community Advisory Committee at 7 p.m. April 7 at the Miller Bay Fire Station; to the Greater Hansville Community Advisory Committee at 7 p.m. April 13 at Buck Lake; and to the Kitsap Co. KITSAP AUDUBON SOCIETY: The Kitsap Audubon Society will meet from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at the Poulsbo Library lower level. RED CROSS BENEFIT: The Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3586, located at 4230 Lincoln Hill Road, and the Buz Whiteley Big Band present an evening of music and dancing at the Eagles Hall from 7:30-11 p.m.on Saturday, April 24. There will be no admission charged but a donation would be appreciated. All proceeds go to the Red Cross for the benefit of the Haitian people who have been devastated by the recent earthquake. ONGOING

SEEKING DOCENTS: The Naval Undersea Museum is currently recruiting for the Youth Docent Volunteer Program. The program offers young people work experience in a museum. Volunteers work five hours a day three days a week during the busy summer months as well as a few hours monthly during the winter months. Work begins as soon as school is out in the spring. Teens must be between the ages of 13-17 to participate. Youth Docents serve as educational aides and curatorial assistants. They will research, design and build an exhibit. Students will also design, build and test an underwater remotely operated vehicle. Volunteers are accepted on a first come basis. SEEKING VOLUNTEERS: The Nature Conservancy is looking for volunteer stewards to help monitor Foulweather Bluff preserve, a nature preserve in northern Kitsap County near Hansville. Our stewards visit the preserve during busy summer months and keep us informed of activities there. Shifts are two hours, twice per month. COMMUNITY GARDEN SPOTS: There are three large and 11 small plots available at the Community Garden (P-Patch) at Raab Park in Poulsbo. Large plots (10×20) rent for $45, small ones (10×10) are $35. Poulsbo residents receive a $5 discount. Water, some tools and compost are provided. Gardeners commit to working six hours per season in the common areas. Info: (360) 779-9898.

CHILDREN OF THE NATIONS: Henery’s Hardware in Kingston is accepting donation checks for Children of the Nations and Hansville Community Church through March 26. Contributions of $6 will purchase a 12 x 10 tarp and weather resistant rope to make a temporary shelter for families in Haiti. Checks should be made out to “COTN.”

SEEKING ARTISTS: The newly opened Front Street Gallery in Poulsbo is an artists cooperative currently looking for 3D artists. Specifically they are interested in glass blowers or stained glass, fiber artists and basketry, metalworks and sculpture.
