We’re very excited about all the positive feedback and energy in downtown Bremerton these days: the farmers market is going strong; the new park is complete, there’s a new Thursday evening music series on 4th Street; next week, we’re hosting Green Drinks, a networking event which involves free beer and food; and we’re hosting Movies on the Roof again this year. Maybe it’s just that Bremerton is one of the only places in the country where housing values are actually improving, but we’re feeling pretty optimistic these days.
Tuesday June 16th, Green Drinks at 245 Fourth Street, 5:00PM- 7:30PM.
Green Drinks is an international social networking event that takes place every month in 533 cities. People from all different backgrounds come together to exchange ideas, make connections loosely based around the concept of being “green” and of course, drink. “Green” topics range from pesticide-free gardening to economic development, from energy policy to bike mechanics. This month, Third Place Company is hosting Green Drinks in the lobby and penthouse/rooftop of our building at 245 Fourth Street. Thanks to our generous sponsors, Hale’s Ales and Henry’s Deli, there will be beer and light snacks for all (see, I told you there’d be free beer). If it’s sunny, we’ll spill out onto the rooftop. The roof is highly reflective and vulnerable to high heels, so please bring flat shoes and sunglasses. Seriously.
New Bremerton Events Calendar
As we have gotten to know Bremerton, we’ve learned that there’s really a lot going on, and we needed a calendar to keep track of it. So we’d like to share what we found and ask you to help us make this calendar more complete by sending any community events you know about to our email address. Everything counts: local music, book club meetings, school performances, gallery openings, classic car rallies, break-dancing contests, bike races . . . If it’s happening downtown, we’d like to know about it.
Downtown Bremerton Association kicks off the 4th Street Stage Music Series
Every Thursday during June, July & August there will be live outdoor music on the corner of 4th & Pacific. Come hang out with us in Downtown Bremerton and enjoy the summer afternoons of music and fun. It’s a perfect stop on your way to (or from) the Farmers Market at its new location in Evergreen Park. Fresh strawberries AND live music — how can you go wrong?
Movies on the Roof
Friday nights, starting 8:30 p.m. July 17. Thanks to the financial market meltdown, we’ve had to push back the start of construction on the Penney’s redevelopment. The good part is that we get to show movies on the roof again this year. We had so much fun with the live bands last year, we’re bringing back SGFY to kick off the season. If you’d like to be a part of the event, as a food vendor, sponsor, musician, or volunteer, please get in touch with us by email.
We’ll see you downtown,
Japhet, Karen, Ron, Allie, and the rest of the Third Place team
