Olympic College is revising a policy adopted in the summer that restricts where demonstrators may assemble in response to criticism that the regulations inhibit free speech.

An anti-abortion group, the Anti-Choice Project, joined with the Alliance Defense Fund to challenge the restrictions.

The Olympic College Board of Trustees approved the policy in August. It requires off-campus groups to only gather in specified locations.

With a campuswide e-mail Oct. 14, Vice President of Student Services Dan Chacon announced the suspension of the new procedures pending a review.

“It obviously doesn’t look like it was working very well,” Chacon said Wednesday.

The next task force meeting to discuss the policy is scheduled for Nov. 8.
