Seraine Page joined the staff of the Central Kitsap Reporter and the Bremerton Patriot this week as the papers’ newest reporter.

Page will also write for Veterans Life, a monthly publication of Sound Publishing.

“We’re very excited to have Seraine join the staff,” said Leslie Kelly, editor. “She comes with five years of experience in newspaper reporting and she has covered schools and education, which she will be doing for us.”

Her most recent experience includes freelance feature writing for the Kitsap Sun. Previously, she worked for Expedia as an online content editor.

Page moved to the Pacific Northwest last year from Charleston, S.C., after her husband, Tyler Berube, finished training at the Naval Weapons Station as a Machinist Mate. He is attached to the John C. Stennis nuclear aircraft carrier which is home-ported in Bremerton.

After graduating from the University of Florida, Page moved to Hinesville, Ga., to pursue an education and county reporting position with the Coastal Courier newspaper. While at the Courier, she covered everything from county commission and city council meetings to festivals and memorials.

Her favorite reporting moment was meeting former Florida Gators football star Tim Tebow while covering a sports assignment with a graduate of her rival school. Her second favorite included a ride-along with a quiet, polite southern police officer.

Page’s work has been featured in several publications, including the Bryan County News, Liberty Life magazine, St. Petersburg Times, The Gainesville Sun, Self Healing and others. She thoroughly enjoys reporting on quirky people and strange occurrences.

In her free time, Page loves reading, crafting and traveling. She also likes exploring the Pacific Northwest with her husband, including hiking local nature trails around the Kitsap Peninsula.

Playing bingo and people watching are among her unique talents. She’s met a handful of celebrities, visited two foreign countries and tried escargot. Skydiving, however, is not on her bucket list, she said.

Whenever possible, Page escapes to Florida when the temperature drops below 70 degrees in Washington to visit family. She will cover schools and education, area school boards, prep sports and general features.
