Anderson Parkway reconstruction on schedule

Here’s the latest on the Anderson Parkway project, as of Thursday.

POULSBO — Here’s the latest on the Anderson Parkway project, as of Thursday.

Project on schedule
The contractor reports that the project is on schedule despite the weather.

Light pole installation
In the next two weeks, the contractor will work on the north end of Anderson Parkway, with limited pocket closures throughout the rest of Anderson Parkway, as it begins installation of the bases for new light fixtures. Four light fixtures will be installed: two 35-foot poles, one at each end of the parkway, and two 15-foot bell-mounted light poles to illuminate the pedestrian walkways. The 15-foot poles will have hooks for hanging planters and an electrical outlet for seasonal decorations.

Changes to driving lanes while the bases are installed will be clearly delineated with 4-foot cones and signage.

City: No parking issues
The City has been monitoring the parkway daily to ensure there is adequate parking for all downtown visitors and that work has been progressing smoothly.

Neither the contractor nor the city have any issues with the parkway project and its expected completion date. The contractor has the ability to work weekends and holidays in order to meet the expected completion date.

President’s Day is not a holiday that the contractor has scheduled off.

The contractor will work to ensure maximum available parking for Valentine’s Day, though much of the work is weather-dependent.

Insert distribution
Thursday and Friday, members of the RockFish Group and student volunteers from St. Cecilia Catholic School will distribute 11,000 inserts to downtown merchants, Chamber of Commerce and City Hall for the public to easily access the parking and merchant information.

Free parking in lot
The Port of Poulsbo has opened its pay parking lot to the general public for February. Parking is free all this month.
