A woman tried to run away from police in Bremerton Tuesday and was arrested for drug dealing after the truck she rode in was pulled over in connection with a Poulsbo Walmart theft.
None of the four passengers had any connection to the theft, but two arrests were made on drug-related charges.
Bremerton police pulled over a tan Chevy Tahoe cited in a Poulsbo Walmart shoplifting incident near the intersection of Kitsap Way and Morgan Road after midnight Tuesday, according to Bremerton police reports. Two men and two women were in the truck. The two women, 35 and 38 years old, gave police fake names. While the 35-year-old was being detained, the 38-year-old resisted arrest and ran away. Police caught her in the 1100 block of Morgan Road. The 38-year-old told police she ran because she had warrants for drug dealing. Her jacket contained a Hello Kitty coin purse filled with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The two men in the truck denied any knowledge of a Walmart theft. The driver said his sister drove two friends to Walmart earlier, who were chased out of the store by two men, but the sister did not mention a theft.
A police officer was taken to Harrison Medical Center for a wrist injury sustained after the 38-year-old ran away. The 38-year-old was taken to Kitsap County jail for investigation of her drug dealing warrants, resisting arrest, lying to police and possession of drugs. The 35-year-old was taken to jail for investigation of lying to police, methamphetamine possession, drug paraphernalia possession and various warrants from the Poulsbo police department.
