Reports of bear sighting are halting pedestrian pupils at Poulsbo Elementary. According to an e-mail from North Kitsap School District spokesperson Chris Case, students who normally walk home are not being allowed to do so as a safety precaution.

“If your student usually walks, please come to Poulsbo Elementary to pick up your student. All other students have gone home the normal way, either on the bus or via normal pick-up,” she said in the e-mail.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has been called to the scene.
