POULSBO — The weather was miserable and the North Kitsap soccer team may not have been fully focused. But despite the conditions, the Vikings defeated Port Townsend, earning its first league win of the season.

“Lots of guys contributed,” Viking’s coach Chris May said. “It was a good game.”

May, who admitted he was pretty miserable standing in the pouring rain on the sidelines, imagines it wasn’t any better out on the field. The team, he said, may have been a little distracted by the prospects of Spring Break. However, May was able to play a few players typically not seeing much action, too. And goalkeeper Jordan Hadden had yet another shutout game.

“He’s doing very well,” May said of Hadden.

The Vikings must now wait until April 12 for their next game against Olympic. May said with Spring Break, and only one league game under its belt, the team can look forward to a new chapter of the season. The April 12 game will also give the team three extra days of practice before hitting the field again.

The Vikings travel to Olympic April 12, the game is at 6:45 p.m (JV at 5 p.m.).
