Police recovered a badly decomposed body from the East side of Dyes Inlet near Tracyton Sunday evening.
A boater reported to authorities that a body was floating in the water at 7:16 p.m. A Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office SAFE Boat responded and arrived on scene at 7:43 and had the body out of the water in less than ten minutes.
“At 7:50, they radioed that they had the decomposing body in their custody,” said Deputy Scott Wilson, a sheriff’s office spokesman. “They then immediately motored to the dock at Sivlerdale Waterfront Park and turned the body over to the coroner’s office.”
Wilson said that the coroner’s office is still lining up a forensic pathologist to examine the body and make a positive identification. He said it isn’t clear what gender the body is or whether foul play may have been involved.
“(The coroner’s office) is just at the beginning of their process and we’re starting a parallel death investigation,” Wilson said.
