Girls basketball: South Kitsap remains undefeated in January

Steiger scores 11 points and adds eight assists as Wolves win 66-40 at Stadium

TACOMA — Senior guard Jackie Steiger scored 11 points and had eight assists to help South Kitsap to a 66-40 win Wednesday at Stadium in 4A Narrows Leauge play.

The Wolves (12-2 overall, 8-0 league) have won five consecutive games and are undefeated in January.

It was South’s first game since a 66-40 win Jan. 13 against Mount Tahoma and coach Mike Hulet said it showed as the team “was a little sloppy.” To counteract that, he extended the rotation to prepare everyone for Friday’s rematch against Bellarmine (11-3, 7-1). The Wolves won the first meeting 36-33 on Jan. 4.

That will be the first of four games in an eight-day span.

“We’re running the gauntlet with all these games,” Hulet said. “It’s going to be fast and furious.”
