SILVERDALE — Adoption fees for all adult black cats at Kitsap Humane Society are reduced to $30 each, including spay/neuter surgery and a microchip, Oct. 26-28, noon to 5:30 p.m.

“For some reason, black animals often tend to be adopted last, and we currently have over 30 black cats that need good homes,” said Eric Stevens, executive director of the Kitsap Humane Society. “We are grouping them together in our cattery this weekend and offering a special discount just for them. We are asking the community to help find loving, caring homes for these animals.”

Kitsap Humane Society recently asked some of its adopters and volunteers who own black cats what they love about them. Here’s what they said:

— “Mine has stripes when the sun hits her just right. What I love about her most is her intense enthusiasm to the point where she’ll growl furiously when playing or climbing a tree.”

— “Oh my gosh, we have three black kitties and love them for so many different reasons: their sleek coloring, their wonderful dispositions, their beautiful green eyes and so many more reasons than I can list here.”

— “My black cat is simply sweet, loving and adorable.”

— “Black cats are the best.”
