Darrell and Grace Stead, of Port Orchard, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary this month.

A gathering is planned for July 19 at the Colonial Estates in Olympia. The couple was married on July 22, 1944, in Plentywood, Mont. They moved to Port Orchard in 1950 and relocated to Olympia in 2012.

Darrell retired from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and coached local Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams for 15 years in South Kitsap.

The couple has five sons, D. Lorre, Craig, Ron, Darwin and Kevin, along with 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

They were members of the Elim Lutheran Church for 54 years.
