Two locals finish basic training

Two locals, both from Silverdale, recently graduated from basic training.

CK grad completes Army Basic Training

Private First Class Samuel Bailey of Silverdale recently graduated from U.S. Army Reserves Basic Training in Fort Sill, Okla.

He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and was promoted to Private First Class. Bailey also won the High Physical Training Award given to the soldier that achieves the highest marks on a physical fitness test.

He is currently attending Advanced Training to be a Combat Medic at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.

He will return to Army ROTC at Washington State University in August.

He is the son of Lisa Plum of Silverdale, and Wesley and Pam Bailey of Bremerton.

He is a 2012 graduate of Central Kitsap High School. He also is an Eagle Scout from Silverdale Lutheran Troop 1541.

Ellis graduates from Air Basic Training

Air Force Airman Sierra L. Ellis graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. She completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Ellis is the daughter of Dayna and Steven Crowley of Poulsbo.

She is a 2009 graduate of Central Kitsap High School, Silverdale.
