POULSBO — Mary Nell MacIntyre died May 1 in Poulsbo. She was 94.
Born Mary Nell Buck in Bentonville, Ark., in 1919, she moved with her family in 1928 to a farm in the Bitterroot Valley near Corvallis, Mont. She graduated from Whitworth College in Spokane in 1940, and returned to Montana and taught school in Pony, Absarokee and Columbia Falls.
In 1941, she married David H. MacIntyre of Anaconda, Mont. After his discharge from the Army in 1945, he worked for Anaconda Copper Company and the McIntyres and their children lived in Chuquicamata, Chile. They later returned to Montana and built a home overlooking the Flathead River.
She returned to teaching after her children were grown. She was active in the PEO, Columbia Falls Methodist Church, and served on the boards of the Columbia Falls and Flathead County libraries. David and Mary Nell traveled widely.
After her husband’s death in 1999, she moved to Poulsbo to be closer to her children.
Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls.
