The Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce will host a local radio talk show host, cartoonist and local high school graduate at its March luncheon.
Frank Shiers, who hosts a nightly show on KIRO FM, will speak at the event, which takes place at 11:30 a.m. March 11 at the McCormick Woods Banquet Room in Port Orchard.
Shiers grew up in Kitsap County, graduating from West High School in 1973. His father practiced law in Port Orchard for more than 50 years. Frank received a BA in Communications from WSU and his teaching certificate from Western. He taught school, including four years at South Kitsap High, where he ran the television production program, coached the debate team, and directed a school play each year.
Frank began working radio in Seattle in June 1986. Since 2003, he’s worked for News/Talk 97.3 KIRO FM. Frank returned to doing a regular talk show in late July. Currently, he he hosts Northwest Nights on 97.3 FM from 7 to 11 PM each night.
Frank’s also drawn editorial cartoons, and is featured regularly in the Port Orchard Independent, among other papers.
