NKHS swimming beats Bremerton

On Jan. 8 the Vikings swim team traveled to Bremerton and handily won the competition, 105-62.

Viking results: 200-free, first place Kile Eggers, 2 minutes, 24.9 seconds; 50-free, first place, Josh Despard, 25:93; 200-free relay, first place Juan Salazar, Jordan Johnson, Troyce Musick and Tabor Reedy; 100-back stroke, first place, Despard; and 400-free relay, first place, Tyler Rencher, Despard, Musick and Salazar, 3:59.09.

On Tuesday the Vikes traveled to Sequim and won 93-90.

NK results: first place, 200-medley relay, Despard, Rencher, Salazar and Connor Delaney, 2.06.53; 200-free, first place, Musick, 2:23.93; 50-free, Salazar, 24.93; first place, 100-butterfly, 1:01.87; first place, 100-free, Despard, 58.82; first place, 500-free, Frank Catelli, 5:45.45; and first place, 400-free relay, Salazar, Delaney, Musick and Rencher 3:59.02.

KHS swimmers lose to Sequim

On Tuesday the Bucs traveled to Sequim and lost, 117-65.

Kingston placers: first place, 100-butterfly, Mike Colasurdo 1:12.39; and first place, 500-free, Jake Kvistad 6:59.56.

The Bucs host Olympic on Jan. 15.

NKSD gymnasts fly high

On Friday the NKHS and KHS gymnastic programs competed in their first home meet at Zero Gravity Athletics against North Thurston and Central Kitsap. North won the meet, while Kingston placed third, increasing their team total by 10 points over the previous meet.

Meet results: NK, first place, 144.9; North Thurston, second 139.5; Kingston, third, 93.05; and CK, fourth, 31.85.

NKSD Vault: first, Melissa Kunold, NK, 8.4; fourth, Lauren Wageman, NK, and Morgan Williams, NT 8.15; fifth, Mckenna Elves, NK 8.1; and sixth, Dana Van Wyck, KHS 8.0.

NKSD Bars: first, Kunold, 8.1; third, Wageman, 6.8; fourth, Bryana Bohl, NK, 6.5.

NKSD Beam: second, Elves and Bohl, 8.6; third, Kunold, 8.4; and sixth, Lauren Wageman, NK 7.5.

NKSD Floor: first, Kunold, 9.2; second, Elves, 9.1; fourth, Wageman, 7.7; and fifth, Bohl and Van Wyck, 7.4.

KHS, NK wrestlers meet

On Jan. 8 the Bucs and Vikes faced off on the wresting mats and Kingston claimed team victory, 36-30.

Results: 103, double forfeit, 112 KHS Kiana Witt defeated Jake Sievers, 7-1; 119 KHS Cody Jennings won by fall against Emille Rofferoth; 125 KHS Alex Lambert defeated Donny Stamaris, 9-6; 130 KHS Michael Johnson lost 10-3 to Jabok Haws; 135 KHS, Michael Lujon lost by fall to Michael Coulter; 140 KHS Sam English won by fall against John Murphy; 145 and 152 KHS forfeits; 160 KHS Alan Weber lost 7-2 to Daniel Jewett; 171 KHS Quannah Turrieta lost by fall to Allan Dunlap; 189 KHS Travis Schriner won by fall to Charles Stall; 215 KHS Freddy Rodolf won by fall to Jared House and 285 Ian Brown lost by fall to Colin Forgatety.

Viking girls beat Bucs

On Jan. 8 the lady Vikings hosted the Bucs and the Vikings rocked it, 65-53.

North opened with a 20-9 first quarter lead. Kingston rallied for a come back in the second and start of the third, but North worked to a 20 point lead in the fourth to win by 12.

Stats: Darcey Hughes, 17 points, 19 rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocks and Delanee Nilles, 10 points and 10 rebounds.

On Friday the Vikes traveled to Sequim and won 49-31.

Stats: Hughes, 15 points and eight rebounds, Sarah Baugh, 10 points and eight rebounds and Nilles, five rebounds.

On Monday the Vikings took on Central Kitsap and lost the contest, 41-38.

Stats: Kira Markey 16 points, Hughes, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks.

On Tuesday the Vikes handled Klahowya, 63-23.

Stats: Hughes, 18 points; Baugh, 14 points and five rebounds; and Brandi Ritter, two three-pointers and 10 points.

KHS girls bounce back

The Bucs defeated Olympic 53-34., Jan. 9.

Stats: Sophia Baetz, 26 points, seven rebounds, six steals and one assist; Arissan Ugles, eight points, six rebounds, and one steal and assist; Laura Weicklin, four points, three rebounds and four assists; Megan Ramey, five points, four rebounds, three steals and one assist; Crystal Hart, three points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists; and Elle Sander, three points, six rebounds and two assists.

NKHS boys lose to PT

On Jan. 6 the Vikings traveled to Port Townsend and lost 49-42.

Stats: Kyle Erickson, 15 points and Taylor Hoffer, 13 points and 15 rebounds.

On Friday the Vikes hosted Sequim and won, 70-55.

Stats: Hoffer, 23 points and nine rebounds, Erickson, 12 points and Buddy Woodman, 15 points.
