A Bremerton parking enforcement officer was struck in the head Oct. 22 by what is believed to be a pellet while preparing to tow a vehicle.

When officers arrived at the scene at 3:54 p.m. in the 1700 block of Anderson Street, they found the 62-year-old Diamond Parking employee “bleeding heavily” from his head, according to police reports.

The 62-year-old told police he was standing outside his parking scooter preparing paperwork for a van to be towed. He was on the south side of the street facing north, speaking to his wife on the phone when he suddenly felt a blow to the head. When he turned around, he saw no one.

Police officers guessed the round wound was caused by a pellet gun and determined it could only have come from two different buildings – both homes had vehicles marked for towing, according to reports.

No evidence was found and nearby residents told police they had nothing to report.
