POULSBO — The Kitsap Humane Society will launch a pilot project for its adoption outreach efforts by opening a temporary location at 18827 Front St., Poulsbo, Feb. 2. The center will be open Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“A pet adoption center by the Humane Society in downtown Poulsbo is really a great thing for the town and the pets,” said Poulsbo Mayor Becky Erickson, who initially came up with the idea. “We have so many pet owners in town, so many dog walkers – I hope this is successful!”

An assortment of adoptable cats, kittens and small dogs will be available in the adoption center.

The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony, organized by the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce, with Mayor Erickson, KHS’ Interim Executive Director Eric Stevens, KHS board members and the animals today at 4 p.m. in front of the space.

Barbara Perrigo, owner of the space at 18827 Front St., generously donated the use of the space to KHS until she leases it permanently. Another Poulsbo landlord has also expressed interest in donating space to KHS when the current one is leased.
