KHS TRACK
The Kingston High School track and field team endured the heat and found a way to place near the top as a team at the West Central District meet last weekend at North Mason High School. Out of the 10 teams the boys placed third with 67 points, and the girls placed fourth with 98 points. The top two places from each event move on to the 2A State meet this Friday and Saturday at Mount Tahoma and seven Bucs are making the trip.
Michael Ferrell and Jack Clearman, triple Jump. Ferrell won the triple jump and powered through a pulled hamstring to jump a personal best 42 feet, 2.5 inches. Clearman placed second, jumping 41 feet.
Aaron Bilbao and Alex Tweten, pole vault. Bilbao placed first and flew over the bar for a personal best 14 feet, 6 inches. Tweten placed second and jumped 11 feet, 6 inches.
Kayla Campbell, 100 meters and long jump. Cambpell placed second in the 100, 13.07 and won the long jump, 15 feet, 10 inches.
Jaime Schultz, long jump and triple jump. Schultz fought through ankle and leg pain to take second in both. Long jump 15 feet, 9.25 inches; triple jump 32 feet, 8.25 inches.
Ruby Roberts, 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Roberts placed first in both events, 1600, 5:28.16 and 3200, 11:19.93.
KHS TRACK OLYMPIC LEAGUE TEAM
The All-Olympic League Team consists of athletes who won their event at the Olympic League Meet on May 3.

NK TRACK
This past weekend North Kitsap Track and Field traveled to Mount Tahoma for the District 3 championships, and a handful of athletes qualified for the state meet in Pasco this weekend. In the 800-meter run senior Ray Reedy qualified in heart-stopping fashion as he literally dove across the finish line to edge out two talented Central Kitsap runners. Reedy finished sixth with a time of 1:59.18. Sophomore sprinter Siara Byers topped her 100-meter school record as she qualified for state running the 100 in 12.4 seconds. She also helped her 4×100-relay time drop their school record time to 50.38. The previous record was from 1981 and it was nearly a second slower. Unfortunately, the girls took eighth and did not move on. Redemption was theirs in the 4×200-relay as they ran a 1:47.43 and took fifth, this is the second fastest relay time in school history. Madison Taylor opened well, followed by a strong leg by Melissa Kunold, Ali Howe stepped up huge and ran her best split of the season as she passed off to Byers, who strode down the homestretch to pass three girls in the final 20 meters.
KHS TENNIS PLAYERS GOING TO STATE
Boys: Jerol Bird took the No. 2 seed in singles to state out of the West Central District. The doubles team of Mitch Icard and Jon Sudduth were eliminated as was singles player Sean Johnstone.
Girls: The doubles team of Kristina Lambert and Theresa Tucci finished fourth and were named alternates for state in doubles. They will be going to state as Fife’s No. 3 doubles team had to default.
State tennis action starts at 10 a.m. May 23 at Nordstrom Tennis Center at the University of Washington.

A fall sports registration session will be held May 30, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at NKHS. Students planning to participate in cross country, football, girls soccer, girls swimming, volleyball and boys tennis will need to attend. Students and their parent/guardian will need to be present to submit all registration materials. Physicals will also be given on that day in the main gym, sponsored by the NKHS Athletic Medicine program.
Parents may access the sports physical forms on the NKHS athletic Web site www.nkschools/schools/nkhigh/athletics.
