POULSBO — North Kitsap assistant wrestling coach Ed Amick will be given the “ultimate award” in May for the work he’s done with wrestling.

Amick will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for “Lifetime Service” to wrestling.

“This is the ultimate award for an individual who has devoted their life to our great sport,” Hall of Fame spokesman Jim Meyerhoff stated in a press release.

The Hall of Fame banquet will be held May 19 at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia. The reception begins at 2 p.m. The induction ceremony begins at 3 p.m.

The 2013 honorees are Kelly “Kip” Alexander, Outstanding American; Ed Amick, Jim Bair (deceased), Terry Beckstead, Doug Chapple, Denny Daniels, Mick Guglomo, Charlie Hinds, Joe Reasons, George Wilfong.

The honorees will be permanently recognized at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in Stillwater, Okla.

Amick has coached for 37 years at North Mason High School, and was inducted to the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2002.

Amick joined the North Kitsap wrestling program in 2008-09. Joe Amick, is head coach.
