Fund set up for deputies wounded outside South Kitsap WalMart

Many people have asked how they can thank and help the officers wounded on Jan. 23 outside the South Kitsap Walmart, according to Deputy Scott Wilson, a spokesman for the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

In response, the Kitsap County Deputy Sheriff’s Guild has established a Wounded Officer Fund at Key Bank to help the injured deputies and their families cover the unexpected costs for rehabilitation they’re facing.

Cash or check donations may be left at any Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office location, any Key Bank branch or mailed to the Kitsap County Deputy Sheriff’s Guild: P.O. Box 1545, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Checks should be payable to KCDSG Donation Account.

Wilson said the Sheriff’s Office is thankful for the outpouring of thankfulness they’ve already received.

“The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office has experienced a tremendous outreach by community residents concerning the welfare of Deputies Andrew Ejde and John Stacy,” Wilson said. “Many gestures of concern and appreciation have arrived, for which Sheriff Steve Boyer, the injured deputies and the entire agency is very grateful.”
