After refusing to stop smoking cigarettes in front her infant grandchild Monday, a 40-year-old Bremerton woman bit her adult daughter who tried to throw out her cigarettes.

Police were called to the 3400 block of Almira Drive at 8:38 p.m. and found the 21-year-old daughter with red bite marks on her right arm. The 40-year-old mother, who was drunk that night, told police she bit her daughter’s arm after she put her arm around her throat during an argument. After the 21-year-old put her cigarettes under water and dumped out her bottle of wine, the 40-year-old took the bottle and threatened to hit her.

The 21-year-old said the argument started after she repeatedly told her mother not to smoke in front of her baby, who has asthma. When her mom raised the wine bottle against her, she went outside to call 911. The 40-year-old was taken to Kitsap County jail for investigation of assault and harassment.
