James named new Harrison Medical Foundation director

The Harrison Medical Center Foundation, a part of CHI Franciscan Health, has selected Barbara M. James to be the new Executive Director.

BREMERTON — The Harrison Medical Center Foundation, a part of CHI Franciscan Health, has selected Barbara M. James to be the new Executive Director.

In her new role, James’ primary focus will be to raise funds for the needs of Harrison Medical Center, including a campaign supporting the expansion of Harrison Medical Center’s Silverdale campus.

“Barbara will be a vital member of our Harrison Medical Center Foundation team,” said David Schultz, market president of the Peninsula Region. “We are excited that she has agreed to lead the Harrison Foundation team as we embark on a major fundraising campaign for the hospital.”

James has more than 25 years of leadership experience with both public and private organizations that have supported social and children’s services, education and healthcare. Most recently, she was the director of philanthropy for the Franciscan Foundation, where she led $3.5 million capital campaign for an upgrade of the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.

James joined the Harrison Medical Center Foundation in her new role on July 11, 2016.

CHI Franciscan Health is a nonprofit health system based in Tacoma with a team of nearly 12,000 doctors, nurses and staff that provide expert, compassionate medical care at eight acute care hospitals and more than 100 primary and specialty care clinics in Pierce, King and Kitsap counties. This includes Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton and Silverdale.
