The Kitsap Public Health District has canceled the Toxic Blue-Green Algae advisory in effect for Long Lake in South Kitsap on Sept. 22.

Recent sample results show that there is no longer any toxins in the water, and the water is safe for human and animal contact again. Warning signs have been removed from the Lake.

The original advisory was issued on Aug. 29, after water samples collected from the lake showed toxic levels of the algae that, if ingested in sufficient quantities, can make people sick, and can kill pets, fish, waterfowl and livestock.
