Mary Ransier, a local Washington State Patrol communications officer, was promoted to communications officer 2, according to WSP. She was recognized during a promotional ceremony Oct. 16.

Ransier began her career with WSP in 2005, assigned to Bremerton as a communications officer. She was promoted to communications officer 1 in 2006.

Ransier serves as a radio users group committee chair and has been active in the planning and preparation for the Rod Run 2009 event, which takes place in Long Beach, Calif.

Ransier is a 2004 graduate of South Kitsap High School and is currently pursuing a degree in business management at the University of Phoenix.

She is assigned to District 8, which includes Kitsap, Mason, Clallam, Jefferson, Grays Harbor, Pacific and Wahkiakum counties.
