Two cats were killed in a motor home that erupted in fire at the Sixth Street AM/PM in Bremerton Tuesday evening.
Bremerton Police Det. Mike Davis was on his way home at 5:57 p.m when he noticed heavy smoke coming from a motor home at the gas station and alerted emergency dispatchers, Bremerton Fire Marshal Mike Six said.
The owner of the motor home, who lived in the vehicle, said people ran up to him to tell him about the fire when he pulled into the station.
People came out of the convenience store with fire extinguishers to help fight the fire before fire fighters arrived. Attendants shut off power to the gas pumps and people evacuated the area.
Fire fighters extinguished the flames in about five minutes. The owner burned his hand, but declined medical aid. The fire was likely caused by a mechanical problem, Six said.
