City of Bremerton accepting applications for vacant City Council position

The City of Bremerton is taking applications for City Council member following the death of District 1 Councilman Mike Sullivan, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer Aug. 7.

BREMERTON — The City of Bremerton is taking applications for City Council member following the death of District 1 Councilman Mike Sullivan, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer Aug. 7.

The City Council will decide who replaces Sullivan from the pool of applicants. This appointed term of office will be from the date of appointment until the day the results of the 2017 general election are certified.

To qualify, applicants must be a resident of District 1 at the time their application is submitted, as well as a resident of Bremerton for one year.  Final eligibility will be determined by the Kitsap County Elections Office.

The deadline to submit an application is noon Aug. 28. Interviews of applicants and selection of the appointee are tentatively scheduled for Aug. 31.
